I love Pizza, but why do so many people hate pineapple on pizza? Is it because it is a fruit? I have no idea, maybe it’s because some of us are taught it does not belong on a pizza, while others (me) have been taught it definitely belongs there. Pineapple is one of my favorite toppings and I think I rarely make a pizza without it. Now before you are too grossed out, close your browser and burn your computer. You are allowed to make this pizza recipe without the pineapple…

Pineapple might not ‘traditionally’ belong on pizza, but this is really not a traditional pizza. Not even close. The sauce is not a traditional tomato sauce, but a spicy barbecue sauce, there is no cheese on this pizza (not even a vegan cheese) and the bacon is made from a carrot (the only type of bacon I like). And pineapple it is. This pizza is making me go back a long way, because when I was a kid I used to make my own pizza all the time. My parents, or actually, our bread machine, made the dough and kneaded it, and all we had to do is roll it out. I had a final say over all the toppings that went on my pizza. This mostly went fine, although I always had to give the pizza a face, and one day I made a chocolate marshmallow pizza… So yeah, does pineapple still seems like a weird topping to you?

My story might not really give me much taste credit, except if you (like me) do think pineapple pizza or chocolate pizza sounds amazing. But I still hope you give the carrot bacon a try, it’s really tasty!
